The Ulster County Workforce Development Board (WDB) sets workforce development policy and oversees the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding allocated to Ulster County. Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger appoints the WDB which coordinates efforts regarding workforce development strategies and creates employer linkages. At least fifty percent of Board members are representatives of local businesses, with the remaining members representing educational entities, labor organizations, community based organizations, economic development agencies, and Ulster County Career Center partners.
Ulster County WIOA Local Plan
The purpose of a Local Workforce Development Board (LWDB) Local Plan, as required by the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL), is to outline a comprehensive strategy for workforce development within the designated local area. The plan serves as a blueprint for how the LWDB will align workforce, education, and economic development resources to meet the needs of job seekers, workers, and employers. It ensures compliance with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), promotes equitable access to services, supports regional economic growth, and guides the delivery of high-quality career services, training, and employment opportunities tailored to local labor market conditions.
